THE DENVER BOWLING SENATE SCHOLARSHIP

JANUARY 15, 2008 DEADLINE

DBS Scholarships - To All Senior High School Students graduating in 2008.

The Denver Bowling Senate offers scholarships (monetary awards) to high school seniors who are scheduled to graduate.  The main purpose is to provide some financial assistance to those who are interested and sincere in continuing their education.

Applications are available shortly after the new bowling

season begins in the fall.  Students may contact any of the DBS officers or the scholarship committee to receive an application.  Deadline must be met in order to be eligible for the scholarship.

Applications received within the deadline are processed here in Denver, by the DBS scholarship chairperson, then

sent to TNBA, our national office, to compete on the national level also.  This means that each applicant has a chance to win on the local as well as the national level.  They could win two scholarships.

TNBA offers 6 scholarships, 3 for males and 3 for females.  The amounts are:  1st place $1,500, 2nd place $1,250 and 3rd place, $1,000.

DBS considers all applicants, only if they adhere to the deadlines and specifications.  The amount awarded varies from year to year depending on what is available.  For the last 5 years we have awarded each eligible senior graduate $500.  This is a one time only, monetary award.

DBS must receive an official notification that the student has been accepted, enrolled in their school, and will start classes on or before the fall semester.

Seniors are evaluated on:

1.                 GPA

2.               School attendance

3.                legible and neat application

4.               Financial need

5.                Community, school, TNBA and church involvement

6.               Letters of recommendation

7.               Essay

8.               SAT

DBS encourages the seniors to be active in fund raisers for the scholarships.  This is a great way for the adult bowlers to get acquainted with the seniors.

TNBA presents their scholarship during the national convention during the Awards Banquet in May.  DBS

presents their awards to the seniors in the fall of the year, before classes start, and after receiving official notice from the establishment.

DBS has applications just waiting for you.   The sooner you receive your application the better off you will be, so hurry and contact one of the persons listed below for more information.  They will see that you receive an application as soon as possible.
